2018 Wilkens Family Wines Pinot Noir
The Wilkens Family purchased Abbey Road Farm in 2017 with a vision to marry all aspect of this working farm and have transformed the property into one of the Willamette Valleys premier destinations for wine, lodging, and entertaining. It is fitting that the best barrels of the 2018 vintage make up the inaugural Wilkens Family Wines Pinot Noir Reserve. James Rahn Abbey Road Farms' Director of Wine has sourced the fruit, processed, and lovenly watched this pinot mature. These two barrels (50 cases) came from Rainsong Vineyard in the southern Willamette Valley 90 miles south of the farm planted in Bellpine soil series and Carlton Hill Vineyard just 7miles due west of the farm planted in Willakenzie soil series. Both are marine sedimentary but entirely different substrate one give bright red fruit the other a silky smooth texture the perfect marriage. To celebrate this marriage and all future vintages the bottle is adorned with a Thyrsus the staff of Dionysus, Zeus' mythical son and god of fertility, ecstasy, and all things wine.
